Gmail has two types of labels. System labels are already created and cannot be deleted as they are used to perform the most common actions. These system labels are Inbox, Featured, Important, Sent, Chats, Drafts, All, Spam, Trash. When an email arrives it is assigned the label Received, if we mark it with the star on the left side it goes to Featured, when we send an email it goes to Sent, while we write them it is in Drafts, when we delete it it goes to Trash and after 30 days it is deleted, the emails detected as “unwanted” go to Spam, to see an email that we have archived we must go to the label All. The other type of labels are those created by each user, we can create, modify and delete the labels we want. Using labels allows us to organize the messages in a more efficient way. How to manage labels in gmail
If you want to keep your inbox under control, one of the best ways to do it is by using Gmail folders. How can you create one? Well, it’s quite simple, and today we are going to show you how to do it in just a few steps.
Before we start, keep in mind that these are not folders as you know them. In fact, Gmail uses a system of labels, although they have the same function as folders. All those emails that are assigned the same label can be found in the same place. This is a very good way to keep order of everything you receive on a daily basis.
If you use Android or iOS, there is a good chance that Gmail is your email service of choice. The application also has a function to create and assign labels, so just follow the steps to do so.
To assign your emails to this Gmail label from mobile, just select the emails. To do this, tap directly on the sender’s icon (it can be a colored letter or an image). Once you have selected them all, tap on the three dots in the upper right corner, and choose Move.

Below is the screenshot of the left side of Gmail where the Labels are located, by default, we have those of Sent, Featured etc… and in this tutorial we will create, as an example, the label University to group/classify mails that have for us such characteristics.
All selected messages will be automatically sorted with the new label. If you want to keep your messages sorted, you can remove a conversation to which you have assigned a label from your inbox and archive it for later viewing. To do this, click All or the label name on the left side of all Gmail pages.
All messages that were classified under the old label will now be classified under the new label. And if the label you edited is part of a filter, Gmail will automatically update the filter settings to sort new messages with the new label name.
