Configure gmail account in outlook 2016
Following a development that goes more or less in parallel with Firefox, Thunderbird offers a fairly simple solution to use and configure, with a very smooth learning curve for the user to get the hang of it in a few minutes. In fact, its commitment to simplicity has meant that it has only recently incorporated the calendar.
Evolution is the mail client of the GNOME project, and like Thunderbird, it is free and Free Software. Although it has a version for Windows, it is discontinued and is not very functional. On the other hand it is not as user friendly as Thunderbird or Outlook.
IMAP offers a direct connection interface with the actual mailbox of the mail service, so everything you do from IMAP will affect the mail account on the server. If you delete an email, it will disappear from both the client’s mailbox and the web interface, so you have to be careful what you do. Compared to POP3 it has the advantage of occupying much less disk space, but it requires an Internet connection to be able to consult the mail from the client.
Gmail ports in outlook
First of all, let’s briefly explain what two-step verification is and what it is for. This security method is also known as two-factor authentication (2FA). Its purpose is to make it much more difficult for someone to gain access without permission or authorization to any of the personal accounts of the service where it is activated.
Although the procedure is simple and should not take long, you may have problems setting up your Gmail account in Outlook. That is why you should check if you have enabled the IMAP protocol in your Gmail account settings. Here’s how to do it:
IMAP is a communication protocol established between a user and a mail server. It allows you to synchronize all your emails on different devices, for example, and keep them up to date. Thus, if you open a Gmail email (in Outlook) IMAP ensures that it also appears as “read” once you access the official Gmail application. Currently, Gmail keeps IMAP enabled for all its accounts, so you only need to perform this step to make sure that you have this functionality enabled and have not modified it. Otherwise, you may have problems linking your Gmail account in Outlook.
Receive outlook emails in gmail
The use of email is part of our daily work. Virtually all hosting services that we hire include a mail service, which allows you to access emails through a webmail application: a web address within your domain to view emails.
Anyway, in this post we are going to talk about Outlook, the mail application of the famous Microsoft suite. This application allows you to centralize all your email accounts and configure them in the same application, no matter if it comes from gmail, your domain, or any other email provider. This application is available for both Windows and Mac.
Prior to installing the mail account in Outlook, you must activate the option in your gmail account to allow your account to be used in third-party applications in the Gmail administration console:
Note: You will probably receive an email in your gmail account informing you that Gmail has discovered a login on an external device. Log in to the gmail account you are trying to install and check it. This email is part of Gmail’s normal behavior when installing mail on an external device.
Configure outlook with gmail pop3
Note: To prevent your account from being temporarily blocked, do not download via IMAP more than 2500 MB per day and do not upload via IMAP more than 500 MB per day. If you set up a single IMAP account on multiple computers, allow some time to pass between settings.
Refer to the table below to configure your mail client with the correct information. If you need help updating your settings, check your mail client’s help center to learn how to configure the IMAP protocol.
You can only use 15 IMAP connections per account. If you have many mail clients receiving Gmail messages at the same time, you may see the error “Too many simultaneous connections”.
Try the following options if you see this error: “The server you are connected to uses a security certificate that could not be verified. The CN name of the certificate does not match the value passed in”.
